Intoxicated Iowa Football Player Arrested Mistaking Police Car For Uber
University of Iowa Football Player, Brady Reiff, was arrested on Saturday morning at around 2:44 a.m. after allegedly mistaking a UI police vehicle for an Uber.
According to Sports Illustrated, Reiff, 22, came up to the parked police car and tried to open the passenger door. After realizing that it was occupied, he went to the back door and then asked the officers for a ride home.
“Reiff’s breathalyzer test revealed a .204 blood alcohol content level at the time of his arrest,” Sports Illustrated said. He was released from Johnson County Jail at about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.”
The University of Iowa athletics director, Gary Barta, said that his department was made aware of what happened and that they “are currently gathering additional facts.” Barta also said that the incident would make Reiff “subject to the rules and regulations of the UI Student-Athlete Code of Conduct, and the rules and regulations of coach Kirk Ferentz and his program.”
The 6’3” defensive tackle started for the team and recorded 13 tackles, one sack, and one interception last season. The college junior is facing misdemeanor public intoxication charges as a result of his arrest.
