Rashida Jones and Donald Glover Team up for Time’s Up Video

Rashida Jones has directed a new public service announcement video for Time’s Up. The animated video is narrated by fellow actor Donald Glover and examines sexual harassment in the workplace.

In an interview with Buzzfeed, Jones explained that her decision to focus on sexual harassment instead of assault was because people often have a harder time identifying or connecting the two. “There’s been a lot of discussion about whether that’s even fair to link someone pinching an a** or something off-color at work to an actual assault,” said Jones.

The animation dives into different forms of sexual harassment such as lewd comments and unwanted touching. The narrative also urges people to look into the power dynamics of their relationships in the workplace. Jones even includes a message for those who may consider themselves bystanders to inappropriate behavior, don’t let it slide.

Jones recruited Glover to narrate the animation in an attempt to include men in a conversation that is almost always geared at women. “It’s been a tough conversation to include men in, because I think there are a lot of things women feel men have not understood up until now, and they don’t feel like it’s their job to educate them,” she said.

The two actors hope that their PSA raises awareness and encourages people to examine their own work environments.
