Sabaton Announces New Album, Titled “The Great War”

A few days ago, Sabaton posted a cryptic announcement on their Facebook page, saying “Great news coming up, learn more” with an April 2nd date. Each day, another message was posted, bringing in excitement. Today, the wait is over.

Sabaton has revealed their 9th studio album, titled “The Great War”. This is a concept album focused on the First World War, which claimed the lives of more than 40 million soldiers and civilians. This war was also a turning point in military strategy and technology, thanks to the use of tanks, aircraft, machine guns, and chemical weapons which made old doctrine obsolete, killing thousands in a single day – see the battles of the Somme and Verdun.

The album’s creation is of special significance, as recording started on 2018’s Armistice Day, 100 years to the date of World War One’s end. So far, there is no information regarding song titles, but the album has an official release date of July 19th.
