Satanists are Threatening Legal Action Against Netflix

The Satanic Temple is threatening to sue video entertainment streaming tech giant Netflix over the use of a demonic statue in its new young adult show, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The temple’s co-founder and spokesperson, Lucien Greaves, tweeted that the show copyrighted a monument design of a demonic creature called Baphomet, used by the non-theistic secular religious organization.

Netflix has not released a public statement and so far no legal action has been brought against them.

This is not the first time The Satanic Temple has encountered legal controversies in recent years.

In August of 2018, the U.S. Federal Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit upheld the dismissal of a lawsuit brought by the organization against Missouri’s state abortion laws, such as mandatory “informed consent” counseling three days before an abortion procedure — on the grounds of violating a member’s religious beliefs.
