Serena Williams’ French Open Outfit Is More Than A Fashion Statement

Tennis star Serena Williams made her return to the Grand Slam competition on Tuesday with a first round win against Kristyna Pliskova in straight sets, and this wasn’t the only impressive part about her return.

Williams caught everyone’s attention with her “Black Panther”-style catsuit she wore on the court.

The full-length, skintight outfit was designed for practical reasons, as it prevents blood clots, but Williams also said it was for “all the moms out there.”

Williams also used it to send a message about self-worth, “It feels like this suit represents all the women that have been through a lot mentally, physically, with their body to come back and have confidence and to believe in themselves,” she commented, “I definitely feel like it is an opportunity for me to inspire a whole different group of amazing women and kids.”

Williams said that wearing the suit made her feel like “like a warrior princess…it’s kind of my way of being a superhero.” as she’s always wanted to be.

Williams has people raging about her outfit, including her husband, Alexis Ohanian.
