Shonda Rhimes Is Working on a New Netflix Series

Shonda Rhimes’ first project since signing a multi-year deal with Netflix is secured.

Netflix and Shondaland have recently obtained the rights to a New York Magazine article detailing the story of Anna Delvey, a New York socialite turned scammer. Years of pretending to be a rich German heiress and scamming her way to a luxurious life lead to Delvey’s arrest last year. She is now being held in New York’s Rikers Island prison.

The adaptation will be written by Rhimes and likely include Jessica Pressler, the writer behind the New York Magazine article. Neff Davis, a former concierge at the hotel Delvey scammed, tweeted that she will also be involved in the project.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos regards Rhimes as one of the “greatest storytellers in the history of television.” Fans should get excited to see what Rhimes produces for this first project.
