The NY Times is Paying a Writer to Visit 52 Inspiring Places around the World

Each year, The New York Times publishes a list of 52 places chosen to inspire travelers. This year, the iconic news company decided to hire a writer and send that person to each of the destinations on this year’s list.

Turns out there were a few people interested in getting the gig: The Times got nearly 13,000 submissions for the job. (We’re glad we didn’t have to read all those cover letters…).

But one applicant came out on top: Jada Yuan.

According to The Times, “Jada has spent the last decade at New York magazine, covering celebrities, film festivals and presidential conventions. She grew up in northern New Mexico, has a degree in history from Yale University and currently lives in Brooklyn.”

So where is she going? The first stop will be New Orleans, which is the top destination on the list.

Here’s the full top 10:

  1. New Orleans
  2. Columbia
  3. Basilicata, Italy
  4. The Caribbean
  5. Vierwaldstättersee, Switzerland
  6. Route of Parks, Chile
  7. Gangwon Province, South Korea
  8. Cincinnati, Ohio
  9. Bhutan
  10. Glasgow, Scotland
We dropped two mixtapes in six months. And we take the news very seriously.
