Cornell Student Saves Travelers Big on Flights. For Free.

The Internet just proved once again why it’s a magical place.

Cornell student Nick Doyle, a 21-year-old computer science major, posted on Reddit saying, “I will find you cheap flights (again) for free. All I ask is that you think about doing something nice for someone else :)”.

Doyle received a flood of requests from other users seeking flights from Cairo to London, Australia to Utah, and Washington to Alaska. Doyle was able to grant 30 requests.

Doyle said he was inspired to moonlight as a travel agent by his lifelong fascination with airplanes. He also enjoyed how “aviation connects everyone”.

What’s the secret to booking a cheap flight?

According to Doyle, it’s flexibility: “A big thing about airlines is that they differentiate between business travelers and leisure travelers. They try to charge business travelers more, who travel closer to the deadline and are less flexible.”

Also, booking on a Wednesday is allegedly preferred if you’re looking to save money. Doyle maintains that booking early and adapting to possible changes in itinerary are your best bets.
