Violence off the Field: Brandon Browner Arrested on Second Domestic Violence Charge

Brandon Browner, former NFL Cornerback and Super Bowl champion, was arrested Monday morning in California after breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home, allegedly threatening to kill her, and then fleeing with $20,000 worth of possessions before police could arrive. The victim has a previous restraining order against Browner where he was arrested for alleged kidnapping, burglary, and false imprisonment. That restraining order was violated last night when Browner broke into the southern California home.

In the NFL, Browner was part of the original Seattle Seahawks Legion of Boom, consisting of four secondary team mates who like to play fast and hit hard. After leaving Seattle Browner joined the Patriots, where he is most remembered for assisting teammate Malcom Butler in intercepting the game winning pass to win the super bowl. Browner has not played in the NFL since 2015.

Browner is another name on a long list of former NFL player convicts, often ranging from violent domestic violence disputes to burglary and tax evasions after mishandling of finances. The NFL has a problem on their hands with their veteran athletes tarnishing the brand and the sport by forcing fans to associate football with felonies.
