Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Helsinki, Finland earlier this morning for a one-on-one sit down with President Trump, who said the two leaders would discuss “everything from trade to military to missiles, to nuclear, to China.”

Putin arrived late — which isn’t the first time he’s been tardy for a high profile meeting — and sat down and shook hands with Trump. The US president didn’t mention Russian election hacking as they posed for photos, though he told reporters during his weekend UK visit that he would question Putin about it.

A joint post-meeting news conference is scheduled to take place after the summit concludes.

ICYMI: Viva la France!

France beat Croatia 4-2 yesterday in the World Cup final, capturing their second championship and bringing a highly entertaining tournament in Russia to an end. One million fans filled the Champs-Élysées in Paris to celebrate.

France’s star-studded lineup proved too much for the scrappy Croatian side, and Les Bleus now join Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina and Uruguay as countries with multiple World Cup triumphs.

England striker Harry Kane won the golden boot as the tournament’s top scorer, and Croatia midfielder Luka Modrić was awarded the golden ball as the outstanding player. And, as CMN’s Emily Harrington reports, there was a striking protest on the field in the second half.

Colleges Cutting Ties With Papa John’s

The fallout from racist remarks made by Papa John’s founder John Schnatter continued over the weekend, as University of Louisville President Neeli Bendapudi said Friday afternoon the school is changing the name of its football stadium to Cardinal Stadium, removing the Papa John’s sponsorship.

The University of Kentucky announced they were ending business relationships with the company, and Morehouse College in Atlanta tweeted they were “immediately suspending its campus dining relationship with Papa John’s. The college is exploring all options for removal of the franchise from campus in light of this highly offensive behavior.”

Last But Not Least: Scarlett Johansson Drops Out of Role as a Transgender Man After Backlash

Scarlett Johansson has decided to pull out of the film “Rub & Tug” after her plans to portray a transgender man resulted in resistance and backlash.

According to IMDB, “Rub & Tug” is a film about a real-life transgender man named Dante “Tex” Gill who, while transitioning from female to male, becomes the crime kingpin of the 1970s Pittsburgh. Due to the fact that Johansson is a cisgender woman cast as a transgender male, Johansson was set up for backlash from the very start.
