Tuesday Scoop: Hearing Set for Brett
Kavanaugh Accuser to Testify Monday
President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, and the woman who has accused him of sexually assaulting her decades ago, will take part in a public hearing Monday. The news is reminding many of a 1991 hearing in which Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas was accused of sexual harassment by Anita Hill.
The president defended his nominee yesterday, but seemed confident that accusations by Christine Blasey Ford would not derail Kavanaugh’s nomination. The hearing plays out just weeks before the November mid-term elections and the backdrop of the #MeToo movement.
“’He is somebody very special; at the same time, we want to go through a process, we want to make sure everything is perfect, everything is just right,” Mr. Trump told reporters at the White House, per the New York Times. “’If it takes a little delay, it will take a little delay — it shouldn’t certainly be very much’.”
SpaceX Ready to Launch First Space Tourist
SpaceX announced Monday that they will be launching their first space tourist: Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa.
CNN reports, “Maezawa has chartered a flight aboard the company’s Big Falcon Rocket, which is still being developed, for a slingshot trip around the Moon as soon as 2023. He’s planning to take six to eight artists with him on the mission free of charge.”
Maezawa, who believes artists will best be able to share the journey with the world, will work with SpaceX to select his fellow passengers on the trip that will take four or five days.

Last But Not Least: Coca-Cola is Closely Eyeing the Cannabis-Infused Drink Market
In a statement released to Bloomberg by Coca-Cola spokesman Kent Landers, he said the soft-drink giant is “closely watching the growth of non-psychoactive CBD as an ingredient in functional wellness beverages around the world… the space is evolving quickly.”
While that doesn’t sound like drinking a Coke will get you stoned, stocks in the companies involved soared on the news. CMN’s Erin Whitten has the details in her report.
