Pretty much everyone agrees that this midterm election has been more anticipated than most. If you can’t seem to make sense of it, here’s what is at stake:


In politics…

TV Networks Reject Trump Ad

Several major TV networks and Facebook have rejected a political ad created by the President’s team as many have termed it racist. The 30-second ad warns of the violent threat of immigrants to the U.S. After running it initially, certain networks have stopped showing the ad because of viewer backlash, including Fox News. President Trump says that he was unaware of the controversy.


In sports…

US Olympic Committee looks to take over USA Gymnastics

The US Olympic Committee is looking to remove USA Gymnastics as the sport’s governing body amid the organization’s struggle to recover from the sex abuse scandal involving former team doctor Larry Nassar. CNN reports, “USOC CEO Sarah Hirshland has offered USA Gymnastics the option of surrendering its status voluntarily. In an open letter Monday to the United States gymnastics community, Hirshland wrote, ‘We believe the challenges facing the organization are simply more than it is capable of overcoming in its current form.’” USA Gymnastics said in a statement Monday that it was currently debating which option works best for the organization and its members.

Amazon’s HQ2 May Have Found a Home (Or Two)

Amazon’s shortlist for HQ2 is reportedly between three cities: Crystal City, VA; Dallas, TX; and New York City, NY. However, there have been reports that the company is planning on splitting HQ2 between two places, with 25,000 jobs in each city. Meanwhile, the cities who didn’t make the list — and one city that did — are less than pleased with the decision. Stay tuned for the official announcement on what Amazon will do next.
