Trump to Declare National Emergency Over Border Wall

Yesterday, the Senate rejected two bills that would have ended the shutdown, one a Democratic plan and the other a Republican. Meanwhile, many federal workers are missing their second paycheck and some colleges are thinking about postponing tuition payments. Since it’s the 36th day of the shutdown, and the president is apparently no closer to funding a border wall, Trump is reportedly preparing for plan B: to declare a national emergency, which would allow him to fund the wall without Congressional support.

Trump Aid Roger Stone Arrested 

Roger Stone has been arrested by the FBI following allegations of lying and obstruction of justice. These allegations go back to when Stone was interviewed by the House Intelligence Committee during their investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Rapper Cardi B Feuds with Conservative Tomi Lahren on Twitter Over Government Shutdown

Rapper and hip-hop artist Cardi B recently got into a Twitter spar online between conservative commentator Tomi Lahren over the shutdown of the U.S. federal government. It all started when the Grammy-nominated Bronx artist, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, took to her Instagram account and make a video criticizing the Trump administration over the government shutdown as well as federal workers not getting paid and said that “our country is in a hellhole right now. Following the life of a twenty-something bookstore manager who becomes obsessed with a customer (and ya know, kills some people so nothing gets in between them), this show is sure to give you the creeps. On Tuesday, January 22, R&B singer Chris Brown was released with no charges being filed after being detained on rape accusations in Paris. Paris police questioned Brown, 29, after taking him into custody on Monday on charges of aggravated rape and drug infractions. Last weekend, women across America joined with their fellow activists to participate in the third annual Women’s March. When I first heard about the march when one of my Facebook friends claimed interest in the event, I was excited — to say the least. I was going to have the cleverest sign and wear my bright pink rain coat that would be perfect for a feminist event. But as I wrote “Fight like a girl” on my shirt the morning of the march, I thought, what does it actually mean to fight like a girl? What are we fighting for?
