Child of Anti-Vaxxer Appears Before Senate Committee
Yesterday a teenager from Ohio named Ethan Lindenberger appeared before a Senate committee to share his personal experience with the anti-vaxxer movement. Lindenberger, the son of a mother who does not believe in vaccines, was not inoculated until this past year when he elected to do so himself. The teen’s appearance was part of a larger hearing on preventing the spread of misinformation regarding vaccines, such as the common myth that vaccines can cause autism. (By the way, a new study says they definitely do not.)

FDA Approves Nasal Spray for Depression
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc.’s esketamine nasal spray Tuesday which is used for treatment-resistant depression. CNN reports, “It will be sold as Spravato. More specifically, it’s for patients who have tried at least two other medications without success, and it should be taken with an oral antidepressant.” The nasal spray drug is the chemical cousin of ketamine, a powerful anesthetic that has illegally been used as the club drug Special K.
