18 Palestinians Killed by Israeli Troops As U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem Set to Open
Bloody clashes erupted in Gaza ahead of the opening the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, with the BBC reporting at least 18 Palestinians being killed by Israeli troops.
President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move the embassy there has infuriated Palestinians, who view it as backing for Israeli rule over the whole city. But the move is not the sole reason for the casualties.
The BBC reports: “In Gaza, Palestinians have held weekly protests in the run-up to their annual commemoration of what they call the Nakba or Catastrophe, when hundreds of thousands of their people fled their homes or were displaced following the foundation of the Israeli state on 14 May, 1948. More than 60 Palestinians have been killed since the protests began. Thousands more have been wounded.”
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are scheduled to be a part of a U.S. delegation attending the embassy opening ceremonies.
Wild Tiger at Miami Prom Triggers Uproar
Grrrrrr: A Miami-area high school took their jungle themed prom to the next level — and some thought it was too far — as organizers brought a caged, wild tiger to the dance.
The move upset many students (and their parents) of Christopher Columbus High School, who complained that putting a wild animal in a cage and subjecting it to flashing lights and loud music is animal abuse.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Returns to Alma Mater to Speak at Graduation
Apple CEO Tim Cook returned to his alma mater, Duke University, as a keynote speaker at the university’s commencement ceremony Sunday, where he addressed a spectrum of divisive political issues.
In his delivery of the university’s keynote address, Cook congratulated the university’s graduating seniors, advising them to “look back over you shoulder fondly and say goodbye to act one of your life and then quickly look forward. Act two begins today. It’s your turn to reach out and take the baton.”
