North and South Korea Make History

North and South Korea took the first steps towards peace today, when meeting at the DMZ for the Inter-Korean Summit. Kim Jong Un became the first North Korean leader to cross into South Korean territory since fighting in the Korean War ended in 1953. The two countries vowed to to formally end the war and agreed to work toward the “complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”

Kim Jong Un and Moon Jae-in signed an agreement aimed at reducing tensions and one day uniting the Korean Peninsula. The two leaders shook hands and posed for pictures on both sides of the Military Demarcation Line, separating the two countries.

“The road I have used today, I sincerely hope every South and North Korean citizen can use this road.” Kim continues, “We will be able to enjoy peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula without having to fear the war.” South Korean President Moon will travel to Pyongyang later this year, according to a statement released by his office following the summit.

Villanova Assistant VP Killed In Murder-Suicide 

A tragic event hit Villanova University this week: assistant Vice President Meredith Chapman was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide Monday night. Found with her was  Jennair Gerardot, who is the wife of a man that Chapman was having an affair with.

Authorities believe that the murder-suicide was carefully planned by Gerardot. Police Superintendent William Colarulo said, “you had a man who was married who was having an affair with this other woman. The wife knew about it, and this was a calculated, planned attack.”

Bill Cosby Found Guilty of All Charges in Sexual Assault Retrial 

Bill Cosby, was convicted of sexual assault on Thursday, April 26, after a half dozen women testified that the once loved “American father” on the popular sitcom The Cosby Show drugged and assaulted them.

Although Cosby has faced dozens of sexual misconduct allegations, Cosby was only found guilty of all three counts of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee. Cosby, 80, faces up to 10 years in prison on each count.

Cosby lashed out at prosecutors as they asked Judge Steven O’Neill to revoke his bail, suggesting he was a flight risk.” He doesn’t have a plane, you asshole! I’m sick of it, you asshole!” Cosby exclaimed. O’Neill said that because of Cosby’s age, and poor eyesight, he is “not going to simply lock him up.” Cosby must give up his passport and remain in his nearby home.

The case was the first celebrity sexual assault trial since the #MeToo movement began; the verdict being one of the first major courtroom victories in relation to the movement.

Last But Not Least: Duke & Duchess of Cambridge Name The Royal Baby 

Prince William and Duchess Catherine of Cambridge, have named their third child Louis Arthur Charles. The newborn is fifth in line to the British throne. Louis is a younger brother to four-year-old Prince George and two-year-old Princess Charlotte.
