McCain to Lie in State in Arizona, D.C.

Highest honors for the late John McCain (Image: U.S. Navy photo)

Sen. John McCain, who passed away from brain cancer on Saturday, will be honored across America this week. The decorated war veteran and former Republican presidential nominee will lie in state in the Arizona State Capitol on Wednesday and in the Rotunda at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on Friday.

A funeral procession will pass the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and head to a service at Washington National Cathedral on Saturday. Former presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama are expected to speak. McCain made it clear near the end of his life that he did not want President Trump at the service.

Despite not being in Washington D.C. since December, McCain still continued to air his political beliefs via Twitter and statements that showed despite his ailing health he never lost his appetite for the political fight.

Gunman Opens Fire During ‘Madden’ Tournament in Florida

A gunman opened fire at a “Madden NFL 19” gaming tournament in Jacksonville, Fla., yesterday afternoon, killing two and injuring 11 others before turning a gun on himself. Several others were injured in what witnesses described as a mad scramble to escape.

The tournament was held at a GLHF Game Bar located in Jacksonville Landing, and the event was being broadcast through a live stream on Twitch when the shooting took place. The audio feed was interrupted by the sound of several gunshots shortly after 1:30 p.m.

Last But Not Least: The Most Popular Starbucks Orders on College Campuses

On Saturday, Starbucks posted this little tidbit on Instagram: “We noticed that college students across the country are getting creative with their favorite drinks. So we looked into it and discovered that these are the five most popular!”

They actually broke the orders down into four regions and then overall — which may or may not have have actual data behind it — but either way, this list is kind of fun:

Southeast: Starbucks Double Shot On Ice

Northeast: White Mocha Frappuccino, with an espresso shot

Midwest: Triple Grande Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte

Southwest: Ice Coconut Milk Latte

Everywhere: Espresso Frappuccino

Wednesday’s Morning Scoop was made possible by Natalia KolenkoArianna Lynne  and the CMN Staff. So, how does your first full Monday back on campus feel?

We dropped two mixtapes in six months. And we take the news very seriously.
