What Happened at the Oscars
Last night was Hollywood’s biggest night. Did you miss the Oscar festivities? Here’s what you need to know:
- There was no host, but Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Maya Rudolph were all we needed.
- Brad and Gaga sang that song they always sing.
- Melissa McCarthy wore a rabbit dress.
- Green Book won best picture, and a lot of people, including Spike Lee, aren’t having it.
- A record number of women and black winners took home awards.

Secretary of State Says North Korea Still a Threat
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said North Korea is still a threat months after President Trump declared that the country no longer poses a nuclear threat to the U.S. following a historic summit with Kim in Singapore. CNN reports, “‘Do you think North Korea remains a nuclear threat?’ CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Pompeo Sunday on ‘State of the Union.’ ‘Yes,’ Pompeo replied.” Pompeo’s comments come ahead of a planned summit between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un this week. This second summit will take place in Vietnam in which Trump will likely try to convince Kim to abandon his nuclear program.

R. Kelly Jailed While Waiting for Bail Money
R. Kelly is now being held in a Chicago jail, unable to make the bail money of $100,000. Kelly was indicted on Friday with 10 counts of aggravated assault, only a small part of the allegations that have surrounded the R&B singer for much of his career.

Meet the Writer: Charlotte Kohlberg
As an aspiring writer with an intense passion for music, Charlotte Kohlberg’s journey into music journalism was a perfect fit. Born in Palo Alto, California, Kohlberg’s love of music started with the pop punk princesses of the early 2000s — P!nk and Avril Lavigne. After majoring in art history at NYU, she took an interest in music marketing and A&R work. But a chance meeting with a music journalist in the Bay Area led her on the path to music journalism.
