Michael Heads Toward Carolinas
As many as 6,700 people made their way to one of the 54 shelters in Florida to ride out the worst of Hurricane Michael as the storm barreled over the Panhandle. The full extent of the damage, power outages and injuries are not expected to be known until the weekend.
CNN reports, “The storm made landfall as a strong Category 4 storm, the strongest to hit the continental United States since Hurricane Andrew. The storm has weakened to a Category 1 and is now moving inland through southern Georgia.”
Two deaths have been attributed to the fast-moving hurricane so far. Now a tropical storm, the remnants of Michael are expected to cross the still-waterlogged Carolinas this morning and afternoon.
Selena Gomez Hospitalized
Selena Gomez is seeking treatment after suffering an emotional breakdown while in the hospital, according to multiple reports.
People reports that the singer has been hospitalized twice in the past few weeks due to complications from a kidney transplant. She also recently announced she was taking a break from social media.
“As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember— negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi,” Gomez wrote.
