Tuesday Morning Scoop: Going Back to Cali
Trump Visits California, Where Protests and Immigration Controversy are Waiting
President Trump heads to California today for the first time since he was elected in 2016, with plans to view prototypes of a border wall in San Diego, deliver a speech at a military base and slip into Beverly Hills for a fundraiser. Protesters and controversy will be waiting.
Groups who both oppose and support the “big, beautiful border wall” the president has long promised to build, have rallies planned in the area. Protests are likely in L.A. as well, though Trump’s agenda there has been a tightly-kept secret.
Adding fuel to the fire, a high-profile California U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official resigned yesterday over “false” and “misleading” statements he claims were made by Attorney General Jeff Sessions and ICE Acting Director Thomas D. Homan. And California Gov. Jerry Brown sent the president a letter yesterday that read, in part, “California thrives because we welcome immigrants and innovators from across the globe.”

GOP: No Collusion Between Trump and Russia
The Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee finished their year-long investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election and said they found no evidence Vladimir Putin helped Trump win.
CNN reports, “The Republicans also said they found no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia and that they are shutting down their yearlong investigation.”
Their findings align with Trump’s opinion on the election, inflaming Democrats and creating more partisan tension on a committee that has already seen deep political division.

Is North Korea Now A Social Butterfly?
Has North Korea has gone from being the most introverted nation in the world to becoming an international social butterfly?
South Korean president, Moon Jae-in will meet with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in April and U.S. President Donald Trump wants a summit in May. According to the Associated Press, Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, is reaching for direct dialogue with Kim, calling upon North Korea to take steps towards denuclearization.
Assuming that the militant dictator has not suddenly began to seem more approachable, it appears that theses leaders all have sensed an imminent danger that brought them straight to his door in diplomatic urgency.
