The big story…

Harvard Fraternities and Sororities Sue School for Discrimination

The fraternities and sororities at Harvard University have filed a discrimination lawsuit against the school over pressures to go co-ed. Harvard’s new policy on single-sex groups, such as sororities, fraternities, and other non-affiliated clubs called “final clubs,” comes in an attempt to curb sexual assault on campus, as it was found that these environments foster a sense of “sexual entitlement.” Students who do not abide by the policy will not be eligible for leadership positions or school endorsement for national scholarships.

Greek organizations, specifically sororities, are countering with the claim that single-sex groups allow for a safe space on campus. The dissidents at Harvard have filed suits in state and federal court asking that the policy be blocked and damages be awarded. (Yes, this is a different lawsuit than the one we were talking about in October.)

Denmark to Send Immigrants to Island

Denmark has found a new place to house immigrants that are rejected from asylum: an island. The Danish government just announced a plan to build a structure that could hold up to 100 migrants on Lindholm Island, where there is currently a facility for the research of infectious animal diseases. Barring any delays, such as human rights complaints, the plan could go forward as soon as 2021.

Tumblr Cracks Down on ‘Adult Content’

Starting on December 2017 Tumblr will be permanently banning all adult content on the site. This includes posts that are explicitly sexual or include nudity.
