U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with both Turkish and Saudi Arabian officials yesterday, seeking answers after the disappearance and alleged murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

A Turkish newspaper published an account of what they claim are the details of the gruesome murder of the Washington Post writer at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.

According to a report by the Associated Press, the Saudi government “made a commitment to hold anyone connected to any wrongdoing that may be found accountable for that, whether they are a senior officer or official,” Pompeo said.

Meanwhile, there were calls for sanctions against Saudi Arabia, while President Trump urged patience until all the facts are collected. There will certainly be more to come on this story.

USA Gymnastics’ Interim President Resigns After Less Than a Week

The USA Gymnastics’ Interim President resigned Tuesday, adding to the struggles the organization has faced in trying to recover from the Larry Nassar scandal.

CNN reports, “Less than a week after taking over USAG, former US Rep. Mary Bono has resigned as interim president. That means four high-ranking officials have left USAG in the past six months — even though most came on board after the Nassar sex abuse scandal.”

Bono has quit amidst criticism for a tweet she made in September related to a Colin Kaepernick Nike ad campaign. The USAG was also slammed for appointing Bono — who used to work for the Faegre Baker Daniels law firm — because an attorney from that firm helped the USAG craft false statements about Nassar.

Wake Forest University Shuts Down Fraternity After Multiple Conduct Violations

Wake Forest University has decided to close its chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon due to their violations of the student code of conduct.

In a statement released on Monday, the university cited failure to follow the social events risk management plan, hosting an unauthorized party with a keg, and overall lack of compliance with university officials as violations.

CMN’s Tamia Heard has all the details in her story.

Today in a Tweet: Noooo!!!

Twitter is still trying to get it together after last night’s  incident…

LAST BUT NOT LEAST:

If you ask us, CMN’s Tom Spurling is doing just as good a job following the NFL as those ESPN or NFL Network guys.

Every week, he evaluates the latest results and lets certain teams know whether they should be freaking out, giving up on the season, or thinking playoffs. In other words, if your team appears on the Panic Meter, you need to find out why.

This Wednesday Morning Scoop was made possible by Natalia Kolenko, Tamia HeardTom Spurling, and the CMN Staff. It’s National Pasta Day? Well, the spaghetti emojis are kinda lame, but OK…

We dropped two mixtapes in six months. And we take the news very seriously.
