President Trump Blasts Google Over ‘BAD’ News

Check the Google! (Image: Wikimedia Commons)

In a series of attacks on U.S. tech giants yesterday, President Trump focused his ire on Google, claiming in a pair of tweets that “Google search results for ‘Trump News’ shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake News Media. In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD.”

Google strongly refuted the president’s claims — including one that “96% of results on ‘Trump News’ are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous” — while Larry Kudlow, a White House advisor, said the administration is “taking a look” at whether Google should be regulated by the government.

Will Andrew Gillum be Florida’s First Black Mayor?

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum won the Democratic nomination for governor of Florida yesterday, getting one step closer to being the state’s first black chief executive.

CNN reports, “Backed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and a coalition of progressive groups, Gillum upset former Rep. Gwen Graham who led in the polls for most of the campaign.”

He also outlasted a field of five competitors, all of whom were millionaires except Gillum, as well as being the only supporter of “Medicare for all” single-payer health care. Gillum was given a last minute boost when liberal donors Tom Steyer and George Soros led a group that donated $650,000 to his affiliated political action committee.

Gillum will face President Trump’s favored candidate, GOP Rep. Ron DeSantis, who defeated state Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam in the Republican gubernatorial primary.

Former Texas Police Officer Found Guilty in Murder of Black Teen

An ex-police officer was found guilty in the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teen on Tuesday. The former officer, Roy Oliver, shot into a car of teenagers leaving a party, killing 15-year-old high school freshman, Jordan Edwards.

The incident occurred in April 2017, where a group of teens were leaving a house party in a car with Edwards in the passenger seat when Oliver – who is white – shot at the car. At the time, the officer was found not guilty on two aggravated assault charges.

CMN’s Brandon Walker has more details in his report.

Last But Not Least: The Lemon Twigs’ ‘Go to School’ is a Risky Take

CMN’s Nicole Kitchens spent the past few days investigating new music (we know, what else is new?) and found that watching two brothers who make up The Lemon Twigs in a video  “is like watching a long lost video of a Keith Moon and Todd Rundgren collaboration.”

Their latest release, “Go to School,” is a concept album, and Kitchens thinks it’s far from perfect, but is “definitely one of the most important releases of 2018 for one sole reason: the musical concept of ‘Go To School’ is a really bold risk.”
