Friday Scoop: Comin’ Round to Moscow

Welcome to the Morning Scoop for July 27, 2018. It almost seems like both our leader and Russia’s are at a bidding war with each other for who gets to host a party first. Trust us, that meeting would be just like Helsinki; absolutely not a party.

We’re still plugging away here at CMN, but we need your help to keep our project growing. For as little as $2 a month, you can help fund the team that trains CMN students. Putin Invites Trump to Moscow

A man of some importance. (image: Wikimedia Commons)

Sky News reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited U.S. President Donald Trump for a face-to-face meeting in Russia’s capital.

No specific date was mentioned by Russia’s leader, although he did state that President Trump would only be allowed to visit under the right conditions. Alternately, Putin announced that he is also ready to “go to Washington.” His reasoning for the invite? Phone calls between the two leaders have been insufficient.

President Putin shared this information while speaking to a summit of BRICS countries in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Facebook Stock Crumbles by 20% on its Worst Day Ever

On Thursday morning, Facebook stock dropped 20% as the

public company is off to face the worst day in its history. Shares fell to a low of $174.48, and it halted stock trading on Wednesday at $217.50, CNBC reported.

Facebook lost the tech stock a total of about $120 billion in market value in just a few hours, bringing down the rest of the sector with it. The social media network was recovering from the Cambridge Analytica fiasco among other scandals as it seems that Facebook’s bad press is catching up to them, slowing down their numbers. Brandon Walker gives us the rundown of what’s happening at the OG social network.
