Trump Backtracks on Plan to Cut Funding for Special Olympics

After Education Secretary Betsy DeVos spent days defending her new budget proposal that included cutting funding for the Special Olympics, which received criticism by both lawmakers and the general public, President Trump has stepped in to reverse the situation, saying that funding for the event will remain untouched. The Associated Press notes that Trump’s action is not unique, “The president’s shift Thursday was not the first time he has undermined a top aide. He repeatedly berated former Attorney General Jeff Sessions in public and private and clashed openly with former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, ultimately firing him in a tweet.”

West Virginia Makes their Public Community Colleges Tuition Free for In-State Residents

On Monday, March 25th, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice signed a bill into law that would make all public community and technical colleges throughout the state tuition-free as well as affordable for qualified in-state residents. The new law bill permits tuition grants publically funded by the state towards in-state legal U.S. residents who are at least the age of 18 years old, have lived in West Virginia for at least one year immediately preceding the date they apply for, and have completed an accreditated secondary educational program. Disney to Ban Smoking and Large Strollers at All Parks

Starting on May 1, the most magical place on Earth will no longer allow smoking or large strollers, although there will be designated smoking areas in some Disney facilities, such as the parks’ resorts. Strollers, however, will have to fit the maximum dimensions, in order to cut down on traffic issues in the increasingly crowded parks.
