The big story…

Twin Son of Gay Couple Granted Citizenship

A Calif. federal judge has granted citizenship to a twin son of a gay married couple, ruling that he had the same right to citizenship as his brother. Let’s back up. Andrew, an American citizen, and Elad Dvash-Banks, an Israeli citizen, had two twin boys by way of a surrogate, each boy getting one parent’s sperm. When Aiden, the biological son of Andrew, was born, he was granted automatic citizenship. However, minutes later when Ethan, the biological son of Elad, was born, he was not granted citizenship, so the family took their case to court. The judge ruled on Friday that because the twins’ parents were married at the time of their birth, it does not matter whether Ethan shows a biological relationship to both parents.

While many music festivals have killer lineups this year, the Coachella Music Festival, which runs from April 12th-21st, will provide the most spellbinding performances of the year. The first day’s headliners include Childish Gambino and Janelle Monae, two artists whose aesthetic in music videos have been unmatched in recent years. The satire behind Childish Gambino’s “This is America” will be perfectly complimented by Monae’s stage persona, which is an update of Prince’s iconic live presence.
