Theresa May Posts Video Explaining Brexit

On Sunday, U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May posted a video in which she attempts to explain what’s going on with Brexit. (Needless to say, the video almost immediately received the meme treatment.) In the video, May explains that it seems the U.K. will be leaving the EU either with a new Brexit deal or the leave will not be happening at all, as Parliament has voted against leaving with no deal. May, who has offered to step down after Brexit, has attempted to push a deal that she created with the EU but that has now been rejected by Parliament three times. May is currently on her way to asking the EU for yet another extension on Brexit, which was originally set for March 29, and then April 20, and now, if May’s wish is granted, will hopefully be happening on June 30.

DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen Resigns

Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, who has been a major representative of President Trump’s hardline immigration stance, has resigned from her position. CNN reports, “‘Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen will be leaving her position, and I would like to thank her for her service,’ Trump said on Twitter. ‘I am pleased to announce that Kevin McAleenan, the current U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, will become Acting Secretary for @DHSgov. I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!’” But according to a source close to Nielsen, she did not resign willingly and felt pressure to leave. Nielsen will be staying for a week of transition before she leaves permanently.

EU Parliament Votes to End Daylight Saving Time by 2021

In late March, the EU voted to phase out daylight saving time by the year 2021, allowing their individual member states to opt in or out of the practice. The EU has talked about ending daylight saving time for almost a year now. They ran a public opinion poll in which 84 percent said no more springing forward or falling back, let alone the fact that the practice has largely been proven to be bad for your health.

Cub-tastrophe

Like a meteor wiped out the dinosaurs, pitching has demolished the Chicago Cubs. To make a comparison to their complete destruction, it seems as if the Cubs have stolen the playbook from the Chicago Bulls and have entered tank mode seven games in. This is the 100 year anniversary of the Chicago Black Sox Scandal and who knows, history is prone to repeat itself. Read more in Adam Shay’s report for CMN.
